Under minimal supervision, provides the leadership, vision, and direction for the development and implementation of information technology systems ensuring support of the organization's business objectives and requirements. Interacts with staff fostering an open and collaborative style of communication and leadership. Develops and directs needs analysis, planning, and business review of enterprise IS systems and implements plans for meeting the non-Epic application needs of the organization. Is responsible for providing strategic vision, problem anticipation, and risk evaluation on an enterprise level. Anticipates industry direction and relates it to future needs and projects. Is aware of future business, financial and clinical issues and provides tactical and strategic direction as needed in support of direct reports. Significant ability in managing complex organizations, strategic planning, fiscal planning and staff development and ensures the reliable operations of all application systems as assigned. Responsible for coordinating aspects of planning, design, development, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of information systems. Has overall responsibility and accountability for the application environment, which can include but not limited to, 3rd party clinical, financial and infrastructure systems. This position is critical to the deployment of mission critical information systems. Direct responsibility for non-Epic Information System applications, personnel and contract services with the aim of maximizing strategic alignment, minimizing risks to the organization and assuring that all legal and regulatory standards are met. Responsible for coordination of 24 x 7 support of applications under their purview including availability for escalation of high priority issues. Responsibility for reviewing hardware and software acquisition and maintenance contracts and pursue master agreements to capitalize on economies of scale. This individual will allocate resources across teams, keeping current with the healthcare industry and technology. This position will be directly responsible for mentoring, coaching, personnel management and career development of teams members. This position will work in partnership alongside the IT Director of EPIC application(s) to ensure continuity of service and care to include development of the systems to best server the organization as a whole.
Education: Bachelor's Degree preferred or an appropriate mix of education and experience. Experience: Typically 5 years of increasingly responsible IT management experience, preferably in a medium to large healthcare environment, with a focus on Enterprise wide systems implementations, support and applications management. Extensive experience leading and managing application services team members. Extensive experience working with senior and middle management and with physicians and other care givers. Experience with Lean Production System Methodology, and more specifically the tools and resources used for Lean thinking in transforming healthcare. Experience in project management and change management. Experience with contracting, contract negotiation, and vendor management.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Broad based knowledge of Healthcare IT applications to include but not limited to Clinical, Revenue and 3rd party. Has skill in developing and utilizing the budget as a planning and control tool. Professional certification, desired. Certification in defensive driving, Valid Colorado Driver's license must be maintained at all times. For mileage reimbursement, proof of insurance is also required. All Certifications and Licenses required for this job must be kept current as a condition of continued employment.
