We are seeking a candidate to be an Oracle DBA who will work closely with FedEx Ground Shipment Foundational Systems agile development teams to model, design, test, configure and implement data sources using database best practices and FedEx standards. The position will be responsible for leadership in the area of managing and championing modern data source design and will work closely with developers, product owners, architects, and enterprise partners to ensure highly available and highly scalable operational data systems.
Provides leadership in the design solutions, implementation, and maintenance of databases. Performs root cause analysis, coding, testing, documentation and implementation of multiple, large development projects. Responsible for quality control and auditing of databases to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data. Serves as team lead liaison between business customers, development and support groups. Coaches the development of less senior DBAs. Ensures deliverables.
Hands on experience designing Oracle relational databases.
Strong experience with designing and implementation of large complex high-volume data sources.
Experience writing Oracle DDL.
Expert knowledge of SQL, SQL tuning and performance tuning of relational databases.
Proficiency in scripting languages.
Solid understanding of tuning, views, partitioning, and indexes.
Experience problem solving and communicating complex database solutions to developers, stakeholders, and vendors.
Experience in DevOps or DevSecOps for Database.
Additional Skills Considered:
Experience integrating database solutions with cloud-based technology such as Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or Pivotal Cloud Foundry.
Experience with non-relational data sources such as Redis, DataStax, or CockroachDB.
Experience designing highly available systems and assisting with business continuity and disaster recovery planning related to system data sources.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in computer science, engineering, or information systems or related field and/or equivalent formal training or work experience. A related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirements. Five (5) years work experience in information technology or engineering environment.
