Training Specialist, Senior, or Lead (Oracle Cloud Services) - (190000BX)
The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) has an opening for a Training Specialist, Senior Training Specialist, or Lead Training Specialist to work as a member of the project team responsible for replacing the University's financial, planning & budgeting and financial reporting system. The Training Specialist engages a diverse variety of people in learning situations, applying adult learning theory and knowledge of learning styles in developing modern learning solutions. The Training Specialist will join the project's 4-member training team and, under limited supervision, will plan, design, develop, implement and update the initial and ongoing materials and training which will support the professionals who will use the new system. The Training Specialist will also help answer questions and support the user community after the system goes live. The Training Specialist should have experience developing and delivering training materials. The course mix will include materials for online, standalone reference and instructor led delivery. Experience developing interactive online courses is a plus.
The University is replacing its existing PeopleSoft Financials and reporting systems with an Oracle Fusion cloud-based system. The new system is being configured on the Oracle Financials, Oracle Planning & Budgeting and the Oracle Analytics Cloud Services. The new system will deliver financial transactions and processing functionality such as requisitions/purchase orders, procurement card, accounts payable, accounts receivable and grants. In addition, the system will include enhanced functionality in the areas of planning & budgeting and reporting & analytics. This system is new to UMB, so all users will be trained.
The University is also replacing its current training/development software (Oracle User Productivity Kit). The new software has not been selected as of this posting.

Essential Functions (may vary by position level):
Participate as a member of the project training team responsible for developing and delivering skill-based training (classroom and/or web-based) for professionals who use the financial, procurement, grants, budget planning and/or reporting systems. May lead the development and execution of training programs.
Contribute to or lead the development of the suite of system training materials by developing content and using UMB's training development software to create user-friendly documentation.
Design and develop an agreed upon selection of training materials that are consistent with project standards. Examples of such materials include user manuals, online learning modules, self-test instruments, step-by-step tutorials, exercises, handouts, activities, job aids or presentations.
Collaborate with Functional Leads as well as training and other core project team members on the content, design and customization of training materials and delivery.
Revise and modify training materials to improve effectiveness and when needed to match the current version of the system software.
Facilitate/conduct training in a classroom or group presentation. Possibility of some training delivered live online.
Provide input to the evaluation and effectiveness of training and related materials.
Provide daily support and advice to users of the Quantum enterprise systems. User support may include activities such as email and/or phone support, drop in labs, lunch & learn sessions or sessions targeted to support a particular group.
Participate as a member of the post go live support team taking the lead on some user support activities and collaborating with technical team members as needed to resolve end user issues.
Participate in quarterly reviews of software updates to identify changes which will affect training materials and/or user business processes.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Specialist: Bachelors of Business, Communications, Instructional Design, Human Resources, Organizational Development or related field and two (2) years directly related experience, which includes proficiency with developing documentation, teaching/presenting to an audience, use of multimedia, use of computer presentation applications and use of computer presentation applications post go live support activities. Or equivalent of six (6) years combination of technology education/training, instructional design, multimedia production and/or business audio/visual experience.
Senior Specialist : Bachelors of Business, Communications, Instructional Design, Human Resources, Organizational Development or related field and four (4) years directly related experience, which includes proficiency with developing documentation, teaching/presenting to an audience, use of multimedia, use of computer presentation applications and use of computer presentation applications post go live support activities. No substitution of experience for minimum education requirement.
Lead Specialist: Bachelors of Business, Communications, Instructional Design, Human Resources, Organizational Development or related field and five (5) years directly related experience, which includes proficiency with developing documentation, teaching/presenting to an audience, use of multimedia, use of computer presentation applications and use of computer presentation applications post go live support activities. At least three (3) years of the relevant experience must be directly related to providing training for financial systems. No substitution of experience for minimum education requirement.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of the Oracle Cloud Services mentioned is a plus but not a requirement. Knowledge of large accounting or financial systems desirable but not a requirement. Ability to create a positive learning environment in the classroom and in other communication with users (such as email or phone support). Skill in providing detail-oriented quality assurance support.
